Shibori Double Pleats

                   undulating motion

This newest scarf is also delightful. Its a flat scarf, but there seems to be undulating motion going on in it. I think of it as a mesmerizing underwater scene. It could also be seen as birds in motion. This is due to the double shibori pleats. The blunt end of the scarf is wound clockwise and pleated and dyed, and then the scarf is wound counterclockwise and pleated and dyed a second time. The angle at which the silk is wound on the pipe makes a huge difference in the resulting pattern. It would never come out the same twice!!
