The Wild Mint Scarf

Arashi shibori variation
This scarf was a joy to create and turned out to be a surprisingly wild thing! It started out as a nice mint green scarf. See the flat fabric below. Then random folds were tied and pleated into it at an angle on a 6" diameter pipe, and it was dipped into a national blue overdye bath. The images look like relief shadow shapes. They look dimensional. Dyeing through a single layer made the color come alive! It was dyed on a pole positioned vertically. It is hard to see the mint green in the finished scarf photograph, but, believe me when I say that this is a truly long, vivacious and Wild Mint Scarf!
